On Good Friday we erected the cross in the carpark overlooking the city as a visible
declaration of the purpose of this land — that it is for the glory of our Lord and Saviour,
Jesus Christ.
The cross is such a strong symbol of the Church, and we want it to be known that this land
has been set aside for a greater purpose. Once construction begins, the cross will be
repositioned within the carpark landscaping, still overlooking the city as a continuing
testimony of faith and hope.
In the short term, we would also like to install seating and picnic tables so members of the
community can come, enjoy the views, and take time to reflect on the greatness of our God.
Waikato District Council are currently finalising their paperwork for submission to the
Environment Court. We are expecting this to be lodged very soon. Once submitted, we will
gain a clearer understanding of what the Environment Court process and timeline will look
like moving forward.
Our building team continues to meet regularly and is actively planning what we can do in
preparation for the project. As part of this, we have now launched a dedicated page on the
church website where updates and information will be shared as the project progresses.
We are also beginning to compile a list of volunteers who may be willing to assist with the
project. Initially, we are seeking help with areas such as preliminary drawings, engineering,
modelling, quantity surveying, and related professional services. We would also greatly
appreciate assistance with the ongoing maintenance of the existing buildings and grounds.
Thank you to everyone who continues to pray, support, and encourage this vision. We are
grateful for God’s faithfulness and look forward with expectation to what He will do.
